Tribble Mill 6 hour race report
I've done this particular race twice in the past - once solo and once with Eddie as a co-ed duo. This year Eddie is still training for long stuff while I am dabbling in multisport so I teamed up with Heather Holmes for a FUN day of racing/training as a female duo team. Heather just moved here and doesn't really have a working bike yet so we weren't sure what would happen but it didn't really matter anyway. It was just nice to be racing fun singletrack together. Somehow I convinced her to go first but she didn't seem that upset about it :)

The start line

The plan was to trade laps for the 6 hours. When she came in off the first lap she said her chain kept dropping. Luckily there was a mechanic onsite who could help her kind of fix it while I was out on my first lap.

The course was being run in the opposite direction from the past two races I've done there so it was basically all new to me. I had some awkward moments in some sections and pretty much used the first loop to figure out the flow of the trail. The singletrack was really fun, I haven't been able to get on the trails much lately. I was feeling the previous week's training in my legs on the steepest sections but it was a good hurt. And, thanks to Eddie my Canyon hardtail was working just fine- he spent several hours recabling and installing a fresh new drivetrain the day before. Interesting note: I think Heather, Eddie and I were the only ones at the race with 26" wheels. Funny!

The remaining laps went much better for both of us. We only had time for 7 laps so Heather went and did the last one and I went for a run. I figured I better start running after I ride and surprisingly I felt pretty decent. Granted, I was running with my dogs and they like to stop and sniff a lot. Overall, I would say it was a GREAT start to the year. I like the 6 hour team format and would like to do some additional ones for training as my schedule allows. Thanks to Chainbuster events for a really laid back and fun event. And, congrats to Eddie for 3rd place solo and Carey for 1st place solo!
