6 days and counting...

Because I have to go back to school on August 23 Eddie said it was cool if I wanted to race Fool's Gold again even though it was his turn to race (I did the 100 miler last year). So...now I am doing the 100, thanks Eddie! :)

I feel A LOT more prepared than I did last year. I have been riding in the mountains a lot and working on my climbing a lot. Last year I was pretty much injured most of the season and decided to "race" the 100 miler on a whim. I was just happy to enjoy the course and finish...and I happened to finish in 3rd place, too. This year, I am going to swap out my Conti Race Kings for the new X Kings, I think. And, I will be racing my Rotwild R.R2 full suspension bike. It climbs awesomely and descends quickly. The hardtail was nice last year but right now I am addicted to my full suspension bike.

Right now, my legs are completely trashed. I have been really bad with keeping up with foam rolling and stretching so my hamstring and calf were really bothering me on today's ride. But, after 2 hours or so I was able to do more than just spin and I put in some last minute hard intervals. I felt great...now it's just time for a massage, lots of foam rolling and stretching, and the pre-race taper/hydration/nutrition plan.

I think this year's race will be the best one yet. There is a course direction change on just the Bull Mountain loop which I think people will like. Plus, we have THREE beer sponsors: Yazoo sponsoring the KOM/QOM, Sweetwater sponsoring the Sweetwater 420 award, and Terrapin sponsoring the Turtle award. We have also upgraded the race t shirts thanks to our new logo by Kurt Rampton and American Apparel t-shirts...AND we have podium t shirts!

We have really competitive fields again..especially the Women's field. Amanda Carey, Cheryl Sornson, Sue Haywood....pretty sweet!
