Warrior Creek- 6 hour race
It feels great to have had a perfect race! I would not change one single thing about this one. The BMCC group in Wilkesboro, NC builds awesome trails and puts on even better events. If you have not yet raced one of their events, you must do so!! The BURN 24 hour race is also coming up this Memorial Day weekend.
Neither Eddie nor I pre-rode the course on Friday and had not ridden at Warrior Creek in the past. The course was basically the complete opposite of the Ouachita Trail..it was smooth, flowy, fast, and bermed out..what fun! There were two rock gardens that were a breeze compared to anything we saw in Arkansas. Eddie went out first and led the ENTIRE field..which means that when I went out next I had clear trail ahead. Eddie actually had the fastest lap time of the day. He kept turning crazy fast laps and I was holding my own against our competitors. We eventually finished:
1st in Duo Coed (~25 minutes up on 2nd)
5th in the Duo Male class
and...8th overall in the entire race..which was not too shabby since there were almost 400 racers there!

I was really impressed with Eddie's speed..this course really catered to his strengths. I was also happy with how I felt and how I rode. I completely died in the last mile of my last lap..but that was good because it assured me that I did push myself and that was the point. I think I have a new favorite "lap" race and race course.
One of the best parts of the race was that we won a 6-pack of beer AND a bottle of pinot noir. We actually went home with more booze than we brought up there with us. Not a bad day, at all :)
I am sure there are some photos floating around..I will post up when I can.
Our bikes, once again, worked perfectly. Thanks to all our sponsors--Topeak, Ergon, Rotwild, DT Swiss, Magura, Stan's No Tubes, Continental, and Thomson.
Thanks, again to Jason, Paul, and the rest of the BMCC crew. We'll see you at the BURN 24 hour race in May!
