Cohutta: Here we go!
For once, we actually packed and prepped in advance. Who am I??? PowerBar Endurance, PowerGels, and Gelblasts are packed. I lost my HR monitor but I did find an old Timex Ironman watch that seems to tell the correct time..so that will have to do. Eddie bought me a gel flask and Danielle is letting me borrow one of her cool 5oz Hydrapak Softflasks. The forecast looks like it could make for an epic race..70% chance of severe thunderstorms! Welcome to mountain bike racing in the Southeast..where a mudfest is almost a guarantee in the spring.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this one. The women's field is pretty huge and competitive in both the 65 and the 100 mile races. I'm pretty glad to only be doing the "shorty" because Danielle is bringing a six-pack of Founders so we can have a post-race beer and cheer on the 100 milers as they finish up. It will be a good chance to see the NUE contenders, also, since this is NUE#1. The plan is to squeeze in a ride Sunday morning and then head over to Roswell to watch the crit. Thanks to Eddie for keeping my '09 Rotwild rolling until my Sram kit comes in. I hope the drivetrain is not too angry. OK! Weekend update to come on Sunday night!
