Unwind
Hump day meant a day off for me to unwind. After coming back from racing in Arkansas on Sunday, I had two long days at school and, luckily, today off. We drove to Chattanooga, TN to drop off Bob (the foster dog) to his new home and then hit the Raccoon Mountain trails for a recovery ride. We are racing again in 3 days so the point of today was just to enjoy the sun and the singletrack...ah, bliss.

The Raccoon Mountain trails were in superb shape and I was just happy to be riding. I thought a lot more about last weekend's race and while it's frustrating that I was only 5 minutes out of 3rd place and I know I could have placed better...really, it doesn't matter. What matters is that I know my training is paying off and will pay off later in the season. I did not race a smart race, I made some "rookie" mistakes but I like to learn (and re-learn) the hard way, sometimes. I'm really looking forward to the race this weekend---no pressure, no expectations. I'm just going to enjoy it..I think I can do that.
OK, time to get back to work for awhile..I'll try not to daydream too much...
