Bio

Namrita O'Dea is a Registered Dietitian and co-owner of 55nine Performance based in Atlanta, GA. She helps triathletes, runners, cyclists and other athletes reach their performance goals. She has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Masters degree in Nutrition from Georgia State University, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Applied Physiology at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her career and research focus is in Sports Nutrition.
Namrita has eight years of experience in software consulting, project management, client software implemenation, and web strategy at companies like Manhattan Associates, Inc., Macquarium, Inc., and Ciber, Inc. In 2006, she chose to follow her passion to work with athletes pursuing a career change focusing on nutrition.
Namrita is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine, SCAN (Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutritionists), PINES, and the American Dietetic Association. She has been published in Medicine & Science in Sports and Exercise and Marathon & Beyond.
Namrita is also an elite ultra-endurance mountain bike racer specializing in 12-24 hour solo events. She has earned numerous 12 & 24 podium finishes in the last several years, many of the 1st place spots, and she owes much of her success to her studies in nutrition. Namrita is one of the six US riders on the Topeak-Ergon mountain bike team.
In her spare time, Namrita contributes content to xxc magazine and to the Coach's Corner at MTBRacenews.com. She has also contributed to Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. She also conducts clinics and camps for women cyclists, speaks at several nutrition and racing clinics in the USA, and writes a food blog with Danielle Musto.
